TOLKIEN CENTREFOR THE NORTH · RISØRNOMission & foundation
The independent non-profit Foundation is in its final registration stage. Its founding documents and governance are in place; we are awaiting confirmation through Altinn and the organisation number.

The Foundation is being established to preserve, study, publish and publicly share Tolkien’s literary and cultural legacy, together with the scholarship and human histories that give collections meaning.
Provenance matters. Scholarship and public engagement strengthen one another. Collaboration achieves more than competition. Stewardship is measured by what future generations are enabled to discover.
The Centre is being built with the community, not merely for it, while seeking lasting partnerships with schools, universities, libraries, museums, archives, publishers, collectors and cultural institutions.
Look deeper
The Foundation exists so that no individual becomes more important than the mission. Its responsibility is to keep collections, knowledge and opportunity together for those who come next.
Success will be measured through scholarship inspired, publications created, partnerships formed and generations encouraged to discover Tolkien anew—not simply by collection size or visitor numbers.
